Quietly yet quickly, I move up the center aisle and find my position in the ornate St. Paul’s Cathedral in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. Anna and Aaron are just about to kiss for the first time as husband and wife and the anticipation is evident on the faces of their family and friends as they lean in for a look. A quick check over the shoulder and I see that Ellie is ready (as always!) having taken a position in the balcony. For a few seconds we wait….Father says his concluding words and makes the invitation. I peer through the viewfinder and…there it is….click. click. Nailed it.
As their guests applaud I exhale a bit knowing that they will love the image.
Like always, though, my inner-voice is telling me to keep looking through that view finder. Don’t lower that camera from your eye! There is more here…keep working…and then, as they relax and look at each other, they gave us all this beautiful, authentic, magical moment —-
To be perfectly fair, working with these two, we knew that this day would be full of moments like this — we just had to keep watching the day unfold!
Rewinding a bit, we started the day with Anna and Aaron’s family at a nearby hotel combining a mix of capturing candid moments and classic images with their bridal party and loved ones. After their ceremony at St. Paul’s, they hosted a reception within the Carnegie Museum’s spectacular Music Hall Foyer. Done in the baroque style it’s a stunning backdrop complete with a soaring 50 foot gilded ceiling, marble pillars and a metal balcony for guests to enjoy the dancing action on the floor below.
We would thank the following who made the day look and sound fabulous:
Eileen Twigger, Manager of Special Events, Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh
Videographer: Allison Kepple, Captured Memories by Allison
DJ: Scott Wooten, Marquee Wedding Company
Bridal Hairstyling: Rochelle Noone, Bridal Hairstylist
Gown: Saboya by Rosa Clara´ — Anne Gregory for the Bride
Here are just a few of our favorites from their day!
And that first kiss was pretty good, too!
