We knew that Nicole and Ken’s wedding day was going to be exceptional when we shared dinner after photographing their engagement session in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh last Spring. While we ate, they talked about how they met as undergrads at the University of Pittsburgh and how they soon discovered a mutual love of travel. Fast forward four years and they were planning their wedding complete with a travel-inspired theme.
But what we will remember from the day were moments. Wonderful, emotional moments. From Nicole’s father first seeing her after dressing to Nicole and Ken’s “first look” in front of the Cathedral of Learning, the emotion carried through the day. Before their ceremony, we also quickly went to nearby Mellon Institute for portraits among the large columns that define the structure’s architecture. After a lovely ceremony at the Heinz Memorial Chapel, they received their guests at the University Club. There, tables were named after countries they have visited and were decorated with items from their travels. The theme was evident throughout the night in the form of airplane-shaped wedding favors, postcard guestbook, globe cardbox, and suitcase decorations!
